Ernesto Valverde insists Barcelona would be ‘wrong’ to think La Liga is sewn up as ‘we exposed ourselves to too much danger’ against Leganes.
“Whoever feels like a champion right now is wrong,” the Coach said after his side’s 3-1 win.
“We haven’t won anything yet. We have to fight for the entire season, like our rivals are. Until you win something, you’re not a champion.
“Leganes? We exposed ourselves to too much danger. Sometimes, without wanting to, your intensity drops.
“A 2-0 lead is never definitive, just ask Sevilla. At 2-1 you’ve paid for a mistake and you’re forced to run further back.
“We have the feeling that we exposed ourselves to too much danger. Still, we have reasons to be happy.
“It was a game of special importance, we were already warned of the danger posed by Legane and they also caught us in between the two Champions League games.
“Thirty-eight unbeaten in La Liga? It’s a historic record, as it was for La Real at that time, and it shows that we’re a competitive team.
“Messi? He handles any discomfort and is perfectly well. Dembele? I was particularly impressed with how he kept the ball and got involved in defensive work. He still has a lot of room for improvement.”
