Nacho Fernandez accepts Real Madrid could have defended better against Girona but notes ‘we’re more focused on the Champions League.’
“It’s true that a match with so many goals is nice for the spectator,” the defender told Movistar+ after the 6-3 victory.
“I think it was a good game on the pitch, even though we weren’t good at defending set-pieces. Still, the important thing was to win and keep our good run going.
“We went 1-0 up and then they equalised and we dropped off a bit. We spoke at half-time and also started the second half well. We were able to create some clear-cut chances and score goals.
“It’s true that we’re more focused on the Champions League and the goals we conceded are difficult to accept, but we usually don’t concede from set-pieces.
“Ronaldo? He’s outrageous, he’s the best and he shows it by scoring lots of goals. It’s true that he wasn’t at his best at the start of the season, but it was unusual.
“Now he’s helping the team and it shows.”
