Levante end 16-game wait for win

Levante ended a 16-game wait for a win, boosting their survival hopes with a 1-0 victory over Getafe on Saturday.

Coke Andujar’s first goal for Levante not only gave Paco Lopez a win on his debut but also moved them four points clear of safety in La Liga, although substitute goalkeeper Koke Vegas was sent off for dissent in the latter stages.

“I didn’t see anything to believe that Getafe were unbeatable at home,” the new boss said after the game.

“We deserve double the credit for how the game developed. We had a poor first half, but the team showed great strength.

“We were daring and we didn’t lose track of the game.”
