Real Madrid midfielder Mateo Kovacic has explained how the club ‘were born to win’ as he targets a third straight Champions League title.
The Croat has won the Champions League in each of his two full campaigns at the Bernabeu and the last 16 defeat of Paris Saint-Germain has put them on course for yet another crown.
“I have been here for three years and we always play better in the Champions League. Madrid were just to born to win,” Kovacic is cited as saying by Reuters.
“It's always great when you win a game as important as this. PSG played well, it was difficult for us but we managed the tie very well.
“They had more possession and played tough, they ran a lot, but we are also very tough to beat.”
Kovacic joined the Spanish and European champions from Inter in 2015 in a €35m deal, having originally cost the Milanese giants €11m from Dinamo Zagreb.
