Spain reacts to Astori death

Spanish football has reacted to the sudden passing of former Fiorentina and Italy defender Davide Astori.

Astori was found dead in his hotel room ahead of Fiorentina’s planned Serie A match against Udinese on Sunday.

It was later determined that the 31-year-old had died of “cardiac arrest by natural causes”.

Consequently, all 20 Liga clubs showed solidarity with the Viola by tweeting their condolences.

Barca and Atletico, both of whom were due to lock horns in a top-two clash, admirably took time out of their build-ups to pay tribute to the player.

Real Madrid, for their part, reacted with a heartfelt message on their official website, expressing their sadness.

Astori began his career at Milan but was best known for captaining Fiorentina, while he represented Italy on 14 occasions.
