Ernesto Valverde says Barcelona’s 2-0 win over Eibar was, ‘as expected, a very difficult match.’
The Blaugrana had to withstand a lot of pressure from their spirited opponents but ultimately ran out victors with goals from Luis Suarez and Jordi Alba.
And speaking post-match, the Camp Nou boss admitted his relief at getting back to winning ways at Ipurua.
“There was a lot of tension on the pitch because Eibar create a lot of pressure in matches,” Valverde commented.
“It was a good test. We suffered a lot because they are on a great run of form.
“They are always winning the ball in your half and they make you defend both of your flanks.
“As we expected, it was a very difficult match.
“Our aim was to get back to winning ways after two consecutive draws.”
The former Athletic Bilbao boss conceded his side may not have won as comfortably had Eibar’s Fabian Orellana not been sent off just after the hour mark.
“At that moment, they were doing very well. Having a man less hindered them, because the match was intense at that time.”
