Girona boss Pablo Machin wants to ‘continue the fairytale’ after seeing his side beat Leganes 3-0 to go eighth in La Liga.
It is proving to be a remarkable debut season in Spain’s top-flight for the club, who were roundly tipped to make an instant return to the Segunda Division after their promotion last year.
However, they are now 16 points clear of the drop zone and only one shy of a possible Europa League qualifying place.
“We thought it would be a tough and even game,” Machin said of last night’s victory at the Estadi Montilivi.
“But we knew how to be effective and had a simpler match than we could have thought.
“We are getting more and more confident and we are giving a greater impression of being a fluid team.
“We continue with the idea of getting to 40 points as soon as possible and continuing this fairytale.”
