Barcelona president Josep Maria Bartomeu has defender Gerard Pique’s goal celebration against Espanyol in the Catalan derby.
The Spanish FA confirmed this week that the Spanish international would face no further punishment for his ‘shushing’ gesture towards Espanyol fans after netting a late equaliser.
“This is a celebration used often by players when they score,” Bartomeu told an interview with El Mundo Deportivo.
“We have seen many players use this celebration when scoring a goal at the Camp Nou, and at many other grounds in the division.
“It is totally normal, especially when it is a decisive goal so late in the game, and as the player explained – he was sick of the insults directed towards his family.”
