Pazzini revels in ‘dream debut’

Giampaolo Pazzini revelled in his “dream debut, fantastic night” and ‘incredible’ experience after he scored Levante’s equaliser against Real Madrid.

Pazzini only joined Levante on Wednesday and had trained just twice with the Valencians, but the 33-year-old nonetheless came on as a substitute against Madrid and salvaged a 2-2 draw for his new team.

“It was the dream debut for any player, a fantastic night for myself and the team,” the former Inter, Milan and Italy striker told BeIN Sports.

“Coming on and scoring in La Liga for Levante, against Real Madrid… it was all just incredible and beautiful.

“The experience moved me, [as did] the joy of the fans after the goal went in for the draw. It was fantastic to see the fans so happy.

“The team were with me when I celebrated. I’m very happy with how they’ve received me.

“I’ve felt affection since my first day here. This is important for a player when they arrive in a new country or join a new club.

“Have I received any messages of congratulations yet? I have from [ex-Levante and Italy midfielder Damiano] Tommasi, but I haven’t managed to read many more yet.

“Now we’ll celebrate this draw and then prepare for our next game. Thanks for everything!”
