Las Palmas consider Di Matteo?

La Liga basement club Las Palmas are considering an approach for former Chelsea and Aston Villa boss Roberto Di Matteo, according to reports.

Los Amarillos currently are manager less with interim boss Paquito Ortiz guiding his side to a weekend draw against Espanyol, coming from two goals down to rescue a point in the final ten minutes.

Manolo Marquez resigned from the role after four matches this campaign before Pako Ayestaran was appointed, but in eight La Liga outings he could only win one point.

Paco Jemez, who left Cruz Azul last month, was thought to be favourite to return to the Gran Canarian club but doubts remain over his desire to make an immediate return to management.

Tuttomercatoweb state former Italian international Di Matteo – who has been out of work since leaving Aston Villa last year – is now a leading candidate for the vacant post.

The 47-year-old led Chelsea to a remarkable Champions League and FA Cup double in 2012 but was dismissed later that year.
