Preview: Eibar-Valencia

Goncalo Guedes is back in Valencia’s squad for their trip to Eibar, who have won three of their last four games.

Eibar boss Jose Luis Mendilibar on his side’s opponents being back where they belong: “I’m not surprised that Valencia are doing so well.

“They’re a club that, through budget and the size of their fan base, have to be where they are.

“What’s happened to them in recent years, that they were nearer to the bottom than Europe, isn’t normal.

“They’ve built a great team, they’ve been successful with the players they’ve signed and they’re taking advantage of not having to play in European competition during the week, which can help him have a great season.”

Valencia boss Marcelino on the return of Guedes: “If he’s in the squad, it’s because he’s trained with the group this week, getting better every day and because he’s been advised that there’s no risk of injury, plus he wants to participate.

“He’s not at 100 percent because he’s been on a programme, but he can play without any risks. His state of well-being always prevails.

“He won’t play for 90 minutes, but there’s no medical contradictions and he wants to play.”
