Eibar planning two January signings

Eibar want to sign a centre-back and a central midfielder in January and aren’t letting recent results change their transfer plans.

The Basques have won their last three League games to pull away from La Liga’s bottom three but Marca reports sporting director Fran Garagarza is set on the plan already laid out.

“If you think we’re moving on the feelings of the last three weeks, we’d have to be thrown out. We’ve had a good run but it’s not making us change course,” Garagarza is quoted as saying.

With that in mind, Eibar are reportedly looking to strengthen the spine of the team, with Tenerife’s Jorge Saenz considered a more likely signing in defence than Raul Albentosa or Koln’s Jorge Mere.

Real Sociedad’s Ruben Pardo has been touted for midfield but Eibar would face competition from Malaga for the 25-year-old.

Eibar’s situation is further complicated by having all 25 spots in their squad filled and while Fran Rico will be allowed to leave, another player would have to be moved on for Eibar to fulfil their intentions next month.
