Preview: Getafe-Valencia

Marcelino could break Rafa Benitez’s record of 13 games unbeaten when Valencia face Getafe, aware Barcelona and Real Madrid also dropped points.

Getafe boss Jose Bordalas on the threat posed by Los Che: “Valencia are in great form. They’re a team that haven’t lost yet, and that’s a very important fact, which must be taken into account.

“I don’t want to look beyond this game. We have to play well against a team that have pace, are forward-thinking and can kill you on the counterattack.

“We know what their qualities are, but we have to develop the good level of performance that we’ve shown in most of our matches.”

Valencia boss Marcelino on Benitez, his strikers, Ruben Vezo and Andreas Pereira: “Our idea is not to match [Benitez’s record], it’s to win with our idea of football.

“Winning fills me with more satisfaction than equalling or beating a record. It’s impossible to match what Benitez achieved here, he’s a point of reference for us.

“I’m happy with the goals of our three forwards, who were questioned at the start of the season.

“Vezo was one of the players that surprised me the most when I arrived, and we have total confidence in him.

“Pereira came from playing virtually no games, but he’s taken steps forward as the season’s progressed.”
