Preview: Valencia-Leganes

Valencia will be looking for their eighth straight win on Saturday against Leganes, who possess one of Europe’s meanest defences.

Valencia boss Marcelino on the threat posed by their visitors: “We’re going to face a team that are very tough to beat defeat because their numbers say so.

“They’ve kept a clean sheet in seven games and conceded just five goals. They’re well structured, intense, dynamic and great on the counterattack.

“Although they’re not considered to be a top team, you have to treat them as one because the table says so, plus they’ll force us to play at a very high level.”

Leganes boss Asier Garitano on the job done by his opponent at Mestalla: “Marcelino has almost always achieved the objectives that he’s been given, and that’s difficult to do.

“He’s able to get the best out of the players. Valencia will demand a lot from us. They’ve scored lots of goals, but what interests us is that we match them.

“I see Valencia as one of the best teams in La Liga. They’ll be fighting for the title.”
