Sevilla-Lega start pushed back

Sevilla’s clash with Leganes on Saturday has been pushed back to a late night kick-off due to ‘predicted high temperatures’, it has been confirmed.

Los Rojiblancos were scheduled to play Lega at Estadio Sanchez Pizjuan on Saturday with a 16.15 (CEST local time) start, but this has now been pushed back to 22.30 due to the heat in the Andalucian capital.

The move follows a formal complaint from Sevilla last month that their home game against Malaga – which had been played in the midday Seville heat – should have been pushed back to an evening kick-off.

The players had scheduled water breaks while several fans had to be treated for heatstroke inside the stadium – an issue which also occurred last week when city neighbours Real Betis played Alaves in the Saturday afternoon slot.

Eduardo Berizzo’s side, who have lost their last two La Liga outings, will now face fifth-placed Leganes at the conclusion of Barcelona’s clash at Athletic Bilbao on Saturday evening.
