Eibar Coach Jose Luis Mendilibar has played down suggestions his side should have had a penalty during their 3-0 defeat at Real Madrid on Sunday.
Takashi Inui went down under a challenge from Casemiro inside the area, but the Coach of the Basque club revealed the Japanese midfielder told him there was no contact.
“Inui informed me it was not a penalty,” Mendilibar told TV channel Movistar at the end of the match.
“He would not lie about this and he told me that Casemiro did not touch him, so there is nothing more to discuss.
“This season was always going to be very difficult and there are a lot of games, like tonight, when we will suffer.
“Last season was a present in terms of we did not have any problems avoiding relegation but for us, to repeat this will be extremely difficult.
“Smaller teams are hurt more by injuries and unfortunately for us that is the case at the moment.”
