Mendilibar calm despite defeats

Eibar Coach Jose Luis Mendilibar has called for calm and admitted he won’t ‘change everything’ despite back-to-back La Liga losses.

After an opening day win at Malaga, the Basque club have lost successive games against Athletic Bilbao and Sevilla but Mendilibar doesn’t think too much needs to change when they play Leganes on Friday.

“After a bad match we will not change everything,” Mendilibar told his press conference, as quoted by Marca.

“Throughout a season there are always good games and bad games but you always prefer the bad match against difficult rivals like Sevilla.

“We were good in the opening 20 minutes, but little by little we went backwards and we offered very little in terms of an attacking threat.

“Leganes? They are a strong side who will make things very difficult for us and already have six points, despite losing against Getafe I believe they were unlucky.

“They are now in the second year of their spell in the top flight and can take a little more risk in terms of investment, so now they are stronger.

“We have to be sensible and analyse where we have gone wrong this season and work to rectify those errors but there is no drama.”
