Ruben Vezo suffers broken metatarsal

Valencia defender Ruben Vezo suffered a fractured metarsal in his left foot in his side’s 2-2 draw at Real Madrid on Sunday.

The 23-year-old put in an impressive shift in the heart of Los Che’s defence during the pulsating encounter at the Bernabeu, but results of a medical scan on Monday showed the extent of his injury.

Since joining the Mestalla in January 2014 from Victoria de Setubal, the Portuguese defender has made 33 La Liga appearances for Los Che including both matches this campaign.

It is yet unclear as to how long Vezo must sit on the sidelines but it comes at a particular inopportune time, with the arrivals of Gabriel Paulista and Jeison Murillo from Arsenal and Inter respectively.
