Leganes triumph at Espanyol

Leganes made it two wins from two in La Liga thanks to Martin Mantovani's close-range winner against Espanyol.

Asier Garitano’s side had kicked off their campaign with a 1-0 victory over Alaves while this win at the RCDE Stadium ensures that only they, Barcelona and Real Sociedad have 100% records after two rounds of action.

Mantovani netted from inside the area after teammates Gabriel and Javi Eraso had seen their efforts parried by goalkeeper Pau Lopez.

The hosts struggled to created chances against the stubborn Pepineros throughout, with Leo Bapistao squandering a glorious chance when visiting goalkeeper Ivan Cuellar fumbled.

The game saw the return of legendary Espanyol forward Sergio Garcia after two years away yet the veteran could not make an immediate impact when introduced in the second half.
