Ganso downs valiant Getafe

A smart flicked finish from Brazilian midfielder Paulo Ganso won Sevilla a hard-fought three points at Getafe on Sunday evening.

The 27-year-old cleverly turned home a cross from Gabriel Mercado with seven minutes remaining to down the hosts, who were largely the better team throughout.

Jose Bordalas’s side enjoyed the lion’s share of possession and almost three times as many chances as Los Rojiblancos but Eduardo Berizzo’s side held onto their first three points of the campaign.

Newly-promoted Getafe have enjoyed an impressive start to the season, a 0-0 draw at Athletic Bilbao overshadowed by their valid goal not being spotted as having crossed the line.

Sevilla, who began the campaign with a 1-1 draw at Espanyol, secured their first three points of the season but were far from convincing.
