QSF: La Liga needs technology now

Espanyol boss Quique Sanchez Flores has demanded goal-line technology in La Liga after his side were denied victory by Sevilla’s contentious opener.

Clement Lenglet’s scrappy goal from a corner to give Sevilla the lead was deemed to have gone in, but replays proved inconclusive, leaving Sanchez Flores to rue what could have been for Espanyol after a 1-1 draw on Saturday.

“We showed sincerity and craft,” the Coach said after the game.

“Sevilla are the same team or better than last year, and we competed well and had chances.

“In the second half, we lacked a bit of energy because of the heat, but I’m happy for the result and how we competed.

“The team presented themselves well. The players weren’t hesitant, they played with skill.

“Lenglet’s goal? Technology must be there for those types of actions, it adds something else to the show.

“We’ll never know if Sevilla’s goal should’ve counted. The officials are doing what they can, but it’s fine to give them a hand.

“If they do it in the English League, why can’t they do it in this one? We’re taking our time.”
