Juve join Sergi Roberto chase

Juventus are the latest club to express their intention of triggering the €40m release clause of Barcelona’s Sergi Roberto, say reports in Spain.

A youth graduate of La Masia, recent reports have stated Manchester United and Chelsea are among the clubs thinking of moving for the versatile midfielder and now Diario Sport state the Italian champions are joining the list.

The 25-year-old played as a utility right-back last season, due to Barca’s failure to replace Dani Alves, but the signing of Nelson Semedo from Benfica may mean his first-team opportunities are limited despite making 47 appearances last time out.

El Mundo Deportivo have stated Roberto is unlikely to want to leave the Camp Nou but despite the club’s intention of signing him, his release clause is seen as attainable by European rivals.
