Alberto De La Bella has returned to Real Sociedad halfway through his loan stint at Olympiakos and signed a one-year contract extension.
The 31-year-old returns to Anoeta to replace Yuri Berchiche, who joined Paris Saint-Germain earlier this month in a €16m deal.
De La Bella agreed a two-season loan move to the Greek champions last summer but has now cut this short halfway through and returns to the Basque club, whilst expending his contract by a year until June 2019.
Berchiche’s move to PSG had left a vacancy in the club’s first team squad and La Real believed a return for De La Bella made more sense than splashing out on a new signing.
Having spent seven seasons in La Real’s team, making 172 league appearances for the club, the full-back underwhelmed in Greece last season.
