Ernesto Valverde wants to bring Manchester United midfielder Ander Herrera to the Camp Nou when he is appointed Barcelona boss, say reports.
According to Diario Sport, Valverde wants to bring the combative 27-year-old to the Blaugrana whenever he is expected to be appointed at the club after the Copa del Rey final.
Reported to be replacing the outgoing Luis Enrique, the former Villarreal and Valencia boss coached Herrera at Athletic Bilbao in the 2013-14 campaign before he joined United in a €36m deal.
Sport say the signing of the midfielder would have Valverde’s ‘complete and total support’ and that he was never happy the Basque club sanctioned his sale.
However the reports concludes any deal is unlikely due to Herrera’s happiness at Old Trafford and manager Jose Mourinho’s willingness for him to sign a new deal, while the midfielder recently won the club's Player of the Year award.
