Kevin Gameiro has revealed he moved to Atletico Madrid instead of Barcelona because he didn’t want to end up like Zlatan Ibrahimovic.
The French striker joined Diego Simeone’s men from Sevilla for a reported €30m in August 2016 but turned down an approach from the Catalan giants while current Manchester United striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic spent one season at the Camp Nou while falling out with Pep Guardiola.
"I had the choice between going to Barca or coming to Atletico," Gameiro said to Le10 Sport.
"But what am I going to do at Barca? There's Neymar, [Lionel] Messi and [Luis] Suarez.
"There are players like that who want to play every match, who refuse to go off for even 10 minutes at the end. That's what happened with Ibra."
The Blaugrana eventually signed Valencia striker Paco Alcacer instead of Gameiro, who has subsequently found the net 16 times in 42 appearances for Los Rojiblancos.
