Baptistao nets late Espanyol winner

Leo Baptistao scored a brilliant injury-time winner for Espanyol to see off relegation-threatened Leganes in Sunday’s early kick-off.

The Brazilian forward, introduced as a second-half substitute, received the ball from Hernan Perez’s pass with seconds remaining on the clock and produced a sublime lobbed finish to seal a 1-0 win.

Defeat leaves Leganes one place above the bottom three but still five points from 18th-placed Sporting Gijon, while Espanyol moved up to ninth to stay within touching distance of the Europa League slots.

Victory at Estadio Municipal de Butarque is a third win in four games for Quique Sanchez Flores' side.
