Zidane: Madrid is Isco’s home

Zinedine Zidane insists Real Madrid is Isco’s “home” after the midfielder’s match-winning performance against Sporting Gijon on Saturday.

Isco’s pair of strikes secured Madrid a 3-2 win at Sporting on Saturday, in a display widely considered to be among the 24-year-old’s best for Los Blancos and one which heightened calls for him to be given a new contract.

“Isco? He had a great game and deserved it,” the Coach said after the game.

“He earned the victory with his second goal. He made the difference and I’m happy for him.

“Madrid is his home, with that performance, with that goal … and he could’ve scored a third with an impressive move earlier on.

“I’m happy for him, he has the character to do what he’s done today. I’m happy with how everyone played in the end.

“Have I been unfair to Isco? It happens with those who don’t play much. Because our 24 can play anywhere outside of Madrid, that’s what makes this job difficult, leaving great players on the bench.

“Still, I’ll stick with the positives, it’s not going to change and it’s going to always be this way because I have to make decisions.

“Isco showed that he was a great player, but they all did very well.

“The two goals we conceded? It’s a bit of a disappointment because they had two chances and scored two goals, but the result is fair.”
