Real Sociedad top goalscorer Willian Jose is back for Saturday’s must-win against Leganes, who similarly need the points to stay afloat.

Successive defeats to Basque rivals Athletic Bilbao and Alaves have seen La Real go from being in the thick of Champions League contention to their very presence in Europe next season coming under siege.

“We want to win again at home, pick up three points after the two losses we’ve had and start this last stretch of La Liga looking up the table,” Coach Eusebio Sacristan said at a Press conference.

“We want to improve our sensations and results for the end of the season.

“Leganes? They’re a solid team and tactically versatile thanks to their Coach. We’ll try to neutralise them with our best version, which is the one we give when we’re the protagonists.

“We expect a difficult match for sure because they make life very difficult for their opponents.

“They are very compact, press well and create a lot of discomfort. We’re going to have to work well and hard for 90 or 95 minutes.”

Asier Illarramendi, David Zurutuza and Carlos Vela are among those missing for Los Txuriurdin, but they have been boosted by the return of Willian Jose after six games out with a muscle injury.

Leganes are also looking strong, with Nabil El Zhar their only first-team casualty, although boss Asier Garitano admits he is unsure over which approach his side will take at Anoeta.

“They’re a great team, and in our first meeting we went out to press them and suffered a lot,” he explained.

“We’ll decide [our approach] on Saturday, but we’re ready for what will be a great afternoon.”
