Iago Aspas netted his 15th La Liga goal of the season to give Celta Vigo the spoils in Sunday’s Galician derby clash at the Riazor.
The Spanish international volley home in the 74th minute after a pinpoint delivery from Claudio Beauvue to send the army of travelling Celta fans into raptures.
It ensured the Celestes completed the league double over their Galician rivals and also inflicted Pepe Mel’s first defeat as Depor boss since he replaced Gaizka Garitano last month.
As so many derbies tend to be, the match lived up to its hype in terms of intensity but not for clearcut chances – only four shots on target were registered throughout the encounter.
The win moves Celta up to 11th, while Depor stay 16th.
