Celta Vigo marched into the quarter finals of the Europa League with a 2-0 win away at Krasnodar sealed a 4-1 aggregate victory.
Hugo Mallo opened the scoring for Eduardo Berizzo’s men seven minutes after the break, firing home after Iago Aspas’ initial attempt had been blocked by a defender.
Former Liverpool striker Aspas then weighed in with a goal of his own as a cool chip over the onrushing goalkeeper sealed the victory with ten minutes remaining, before Charles Kabore was sent off for the Russian club late on.
The Galicians are now into the last eight of the competition for the first time in 16 years and are ranked as third favourites to lift the trophy by many bookmakers, trailing Manchester United and Lyon in the odds market.
