Modric ‘proud’ of Madrid milestone

Luka Modric spoke of his pride and honour after making his 200th first-team appearance for Real Madrid against Real Betis on Sunday.

The Croatian has established himself as a key player at the Bernabeu since moving to Madrid for €30m from Tottenham Hotspur back in 2012, and has recently signed a new deal at the club until 2020.

"I'm very happy and proud to be part of this great club," Modric told Madrid's website after being presented with a commemorative shirt by Perez.

"It means a lot to me. I wish I could play 200 more games, win lots of titles and give our fans a lot of joy.

"I believe that I've improved a lot as a player and a person, because being surrounded by great players on a daily basis helps your development out on the pitch.

"I'm pleased, and now I have to keep giving my all for Real Madrid."
