Jose Luis Mendilibar admits Eibar were lucky to beat Deportivo La Coruna as the Galicians “played better than us” and “deserved more”.
Eibar recorded a 3-1 win against Depor on Saturday to move into the top of half of La Liga, but they needed Fabien Lejeune to make sure of the result on 72 minutes as Emre Colak had pulled a goal back to leave the Basques leading by just one for almost an hour.
“Deportivo played better than us but didn’t make it count,” the Coach said after the game.
“We started well, in the first 20 minutes we scored twice.
“Then they scored, improved and dominated while we suffered.
“We weren’t able to play our game and we fell behind. I think they played better, Deportivo deserved more than what they got.
“The first half was more open and in the second, they dominated, both in terms of the game and chances.
“Yoel took the game forward for us, that’s what goalkeepers are for. He made a lot of saves.
“We have to go week by week and win games, the objective is to keep getting better and adding points.”
