Sporting drop top scorer Cop

Sporting Gijon have dropped top goalscorer Duje Cop without explanation for Sunday’s visit of Eibar in La Liga.

According to La Voz de Asturias, Cop has been punished for causing ructions in Sporting’s dressing room in each of the side’s last two games, despite the Cagliari-owned striker’s six League goals.

“I’m not considering my future, I’m at my club of my life and feeling happy, enchanted and only thinking about reversing the situation,” under-fire Coach Abelardo Fernandez said at a Press conference.

“I took over during a time of economic and sport ruin, neither did I imagine that we’d be able to get this far.

“Still, if the club feel that I shouldn’t stay on, there wouldn’t be any problems reaching an agreement [over my exit].

“Tiote? We could sign Busquets and still not win games.

“Signings aren’t easy. All teams have made mistakes [in the transfer market], but we lack physical power in the middle of the park and someone who can win the ball to launch counterattacks.

“The squad I’ve chosen? There are players who have been out and those who aren’t able to play for 90 minutes.”
