Las Palmas in ‘privileged’ position

Long-serving Las Palmas defender David Garcia is enjoying his football more than ever and has lauded the club’s current style of play.

The 34-year-old captain has amassed over 400 appearances for Los Amarillos after joining the club in 2003 and believes the club is ‘privileged’ to be flying high in La Liga this season.

“We will continue to play like we have done all season, even if we lost our last match (away to Betis),” Garcia told AS.

“We are in a privileged position and our style of play has brought us great success recently and we believe we can continue to build upon that.”

Next up for Quique Setien’s side is a home clash with Athletic Bilbao on Monday night, with a win potentially taking the side from the Canary Islands into the top eight.

“You have to have faith when playing such a historic rival who is also competing in European competitions,” continued Garcia.

“We go out with the intention of winning every game and this will be no different, it is especially important to get back to winning ways.”
