The Marc-Andre ter Stegen era begins tonight as he makes his first La Liga start for Barcelona on merit against Athletic Bilbao.

Claudio Bravo’s transfer to Manchester City has paved the way for Ter Stegen to establish himself as Barca’s No 1 for the first time since arriving two years ago, with administrative issues preventing Jasper Cillessen from taking his place on the substitutes’ bench.

Barring a change of goalkeeper, La Blaugrana are unchanged from the side that thrashed Real Betis 6-2 last weekend as Jeremy Mathieu and Andres Iniesta remain their only absences.

Athletic, meanwhile, are two players different from their 2-1 defeat to Sporting Gijon, Mikel San Jose and Raul Garcia making way for Javi Eraso and Ander Iturraspe.
