La Liga’s four Champions League representatives – holders Real Madrid, finalists Atletico Madrid, Barcelona and Sevilla – today learn their group rivals.
Madrid, who beat Atletico on penalties in the final in Milan in June, are in the first group of seeds as holders, along with Barca, there as champions of Spain.
Atletico are in Pot 2, as are Sevilla, though the Spanish teams can’t be drawn in the same group due to country protection.
Sevilla and Atleti could though be drawn with the likes of Bayern Munich, Paris Saint-Germain and Juventus.
Madrid and Barca meanwhile will want to avoid the Pot 2 heavyweights such as Manchester City, Borussia Dortmund and Arsenal.
The draw takes place in Monaco at 17.00 BST, the first round of group games taking place over September 13-14, the group stage concluding on December 6 and 7, and the final, in Cardiff, on June 3.
