Kameni: Malaga are ready

Malaga goalkeeper Carlos Kameni says he is looking forward to the new season and believes his team are ready for it.

The Costa del Sol outfit have had a busy pre-season both on and off the pitch and have remained unbeaten, with 10 wins and two draws, and the Cameroon international is more than satisfied with preparations.

“Now it’s back to La Liga and, as always, it will be very hard and competitive. But I think we’re ready to face it,” maintained the experienced 32-year-old to reporters.

“We’ve not lost a game over the summer and it’s always positive going from victory to victory because it strengthens morale.

“We’ve not had any serious injuries either and I hope it continues like that. Those who have arrived have adapted very quickly to the dynamics of the group and done a good job.”

Kameni is the undisputed No 1 at La Rosaleda, particularly since Guillermo Ochoa has gone on a season-long loan to Granada, and right now boss Juande Ramos can only call upon youngsters Aaron and Samu Casado as back-up ‘keepers.

“The boys have worked really well and been good over the summer,” said Kameni. “They are young, have great quality, and are in the middle of a learning process that will be very important for them.

“They’ve helped me a lot in my work and I’ve been like a big brother to them, but their support has been really nice.

“I’m looking ahead to playing at La Rosaleda this week as it’s a pleasure stepping on to the pitch knowing the fans always respond and are with us until the death.

“For me, as a footballer, it is a privilege for me to be able to enjoy myself with them.”
