Gaitan hailed after Atleti debut

Nico Gaitan was hailed by the Spanish Press after he scored on his Atletico Madrid debut against Crotone on Saturday.

Gaitain was praised by Marca for “scoring, commanding and leading” Atleti and AS for “shining” in a 2-0 victory over Crotone, which was rounded off by a goal from fellow new recruit Diogo Jota, and the winger believes he is adapting well to his new club.

“It was a very intense match, but the most important thing is that we got the win,” the former Benfica star said after the friendly, Mundo Deportivo reports.

“[On his goal], it came from a very good move by [Yannick] Carrasco, in which he left me one-on-one with the [Cordoba] goalkeeper. I hit [the ball] and luckily scored.

“I found [my debut] to be very good, although I was a little tired [afterwards] because I hadn’t played much. Little by little, I’m picking up the pace.”
