The agent of Mateo Kovacic has made it clear that the midfielder’s future lies at Real Madrid. “The Coach trusts him.”
Kovacic had been heavily linked with a return to Serie A earlier in the summer after he made just 11 starts for Madrid in his debut season, but Nikky Vuksan insists Zinedine Zidane is counting on the former Inter star next term.
“I haven’t spoken to the club, there’s no need,” the agent told Sportske Novosti.
“He’s now fighting for a spot in the team like everyone else is apart from Cristiano [Ronaldo], who’s the only one with a confirmed place in the starting line-up.
“The rumours are always to be expected at this time of year because we’re in the summer market, but Kovacic is still at Madrid, plus the Coach trusts him, is helping him and supporting him.
“Each player must prove they are worth a place in the team, and it’s even more complicated at Madrid.”
