Silva to have further tests

Lucas Silva insists he isn’t on the verge of retirement but the Real Madrid midfielder will have more tests on a heart issue.

AS reports a red flag was raised during a medical ahead of a move to Sporting Lisbon when an abnormality was discovered in Silva’s heart rate, and reports arose that the 23-year-old could be forced into hanging up his boots as a result.

“Following the news that has appeared in some reports, which doesn’t correspond to reality, I want to communicate officially and categorically that I’m not going to retire,” Silva stated.

“For safety reasons we decided that it is best not to carry out [the loan to Sporting] at the moment. Naturally, Madrid want to repeat those test but I’m very calm in view of the absolute normalcy revealed by the additional tests done.”

Silva has duly returned to Madrid but hasn’t had a place in the squad under Carlo Ancelotti, Rafa Benitez or Zinedine Zidane and a move away is his only option to get minutes, AS notes, pending the results of further tests.
