Atletico Madrid defender Juanfran has claimed that “fate no longer owes us one Champions League, it owes us two”.
Juanfran was part of both Atleti sides that lost to Real Madrid in two of the last Champions League finals, the right-back missing the decisive penalty in their most recent encounter, but he is adamant Los Colchoneros will soon get their hands on a European cup.
“Fate no longer owes us one Champions League, it owes us two.” he said at a promotional event for Adidas, Marca reports.
“I’m convinced we’ll reach another final, that Gabi [Fernandez] lifts the Champions League. I’m stronger than ever and eager to leave the national team [at Euro 2016] as a champion.
“It was a very good season, but the sorrow was not winning the Champions League in Milan.”
