Valeron to announce retirement?

Juan Carlos Valeron is expected to announce his retirement this weekend and could join the technical staff at Las Palmas.

It had been reported that the 40-year-old was yet to decide on his future, but Sport says a Press conference for Saturday has been called at which Valeron is expected to confirm he is hanging up the boots.

Valeron and Las Palmas Coach Quique Setien are understood to have spoken about next season on Friday and shortly after the Press conference was called.

The ex-Real Mallorca, Atletico Madrid and Deportivo La Coruna midfielder has made more than 500 appearances in La Liga, winning the Copa del Rey while at Riazor in 2002 and turning out almost 50 times for Spain.
