Ernesto Valverde reminds that Atletico Madrid aren’t the only side with objectives as they go to Athletic Bilbao’s San Mames.

Atletico are looking to exploit any more dropped Barcelona points as they’re level with the League leaders but Los Leones can mathematically guarantee a Europa League place with three points.

“It’s a Clasico, a good game, both teams playing for important things above us. Atletico give away very little. 16 League goals against is very few. We have to try to win so the [Champions League] is an open possibility. If we win, we fulfil that objective,” Valverde told reporters, according to AS.

“We’re not worried who will win the League. Two years ago when Atletico won, three teams failed. It’s more difficult to win at the end of the season. They’ll come with the intention [of winning the League]. It’s a key game for them, but for us too. We want to exploit all the options we have to be as high as possible.”

Former Atletico midfielder Raul Garcia came in for praise, meanwhile, for his performances in the absence of injured Aritz Aduriz.

“He’s done well. His leadership isn’t a question of goals. He’s one of the leaders and this is a special game for him. I hope he continues on a scoring streak,” Valverde added.
