Pepe jibed Real Madrid “were supposed to concede four or five” against Barcelona after Saturday’s 2-1 victory in the Clasico.
Goals from Karim Benzema and Cristiano Ronaldo secured a memorable comeback win for Madrid, who had gone down to Gerard Pique’s header six minutes before the Frenchman’s equaliser, and Pepe was quick to address his side’s critics.
“They said we were supposed to concede four or five, but with 10 men we showed sacrifice,” the defender said after the game.
“[The win] seemed impossible, but it’s for all the fans.
“We hope we get lucky in the Champions League and reach the final.
“The victory is for the fans. Many things have been said about us, that we have no quality and Cristiano doesn’t score. All of it’s been unfair.
“We fight for our fans and have our feet on the ground. With humility, La Liga is possible.”
