Negredo: 2016 might be my year

Alvaro Negredo is hoping for a better 2016 at Valencia now Gary Neville is on the bench, and looked ahead to the derby with Villarreal.

Negredo was frozen out at the start of this season by Neville’s predecessor Nuno Espirito Santo but the English Coach has restored the Spain striker to the fold.

“[2016] might be my year, that’s why I came here. It’s hard to start every time but I work to be in the best possible form and to give the Coach what he wants,” Negredo said, Marca reports.

“I have great confidence. He talks a lot, takes little but has clear ideas and hopefully I pick it up soon.

“Villarreal are a great team, but so are we. It’s a difficult place. They’re a team fighting for the position we want. We know the difficulty because they work well. We’re looking for a way to recover the points we’ve lost.”
