Las Palmas boss Quique Setien felt his side deserved to qualify for the last 16 of the Copa del Rey after a 1-1 draw with Real Sociedad at Anoeta.

The Islanders won the first leg 2-1 and squeezed through despite Sergio Canales cancelling out Willan Jose’s first half opener just after half-time.

“We dominated at times despite having players who have not had much game time this season,” Setien told a Press conference.

“We did well in defence and also created clear chances, although we should have finished off the tie much sooner and my players were made to suffer in the second period against a team of great quality.

“Despite having a big squad we have some injuries but I’d rather be in in this tournament because it’s always better to play rather than train.

“For those that haven’t played so much it gives them a shot in the arm,” he added.
