Villarreal midfielder Jonathan dos Santos has blasted claims in his native country that he is in a relationship with Mateo Musacchio.
Mexican magazine TVNotas suggested that the 25-year-old has been dating his Argentine teammate at El Madrigal for the past seven months and that brother Giovani, who plays for LA Galaxy in Major League Soccer, supported it.
The publication alleges their source is somebody ‘very close’ to Dos Santos and Musacchio but the former posted a message on Twitter vehemently denying the claims.
“To the media: If I were gay, I’d have no problem in saying so. Invent some other things. Don’t promote discrimination or sensationalism,” he tweeted.
The Mexican international began his career with Barcelona before joining Villarreal in July 2014, while Musacchio has been with the Yellow Submarine since 2011 since signing from River Plate.
