Ernesto Valverde has told Athletic Bilbao to approach the Europa League game with Augsburg as is it is a must-win match.
A draw would send Los Leones through to the next round but the Coach doesn’t want his side going into the tie thinking they can settle for a point.
“We have to think that we have to win the game. Our first objective is to qualify. The second is to be first in the group,” he said, AS reports.
“A defeat could punish us. We know they’re strong and they played very well at San Mames. Neither team has changed much since then. They’re in a difficult situation but they got a good result.
“We’re more comfortable but this is another competition. We expect to play a good team. Finishing first is relatively important. It’s a random draw. We should be first if we can be, to have better options.
“Both teams have big games coming but we have to travel. And then we play Rayo Vallecano, who demand a lot of running. The team might change because there’s not much room for recovery in such little time. The priority is Augsburg.”
