Di Maria in Madrid dig?

Paris Saint-Germain winger Angel Di Maria claims he left Real Madrid at the right time as they “haven’t won anything since I left”.

The Argentine left Los Blancos under a cloud last year as he departed for Manchester United just months after helping the side to La Decima, and he appeared to take a dig at his former club’s subsequent inability to land any major trophies.

“I thought I’d stay at Madrid for many more years after La Decima, but that’s football,” he told BeIN Sports.

“However, they haven’t won anything since I left, so on the other hand I think I left at the right time and in the best way possible.”

“I have very fond memories of my time at Madrid. My daughter was born there and her life was saved there too, so I’ll never forget what I experienced.

“The fans are very demanding. [Madrid] have won a lot, so their fans are used to winning. Here [at PSG], the fans are more affectionate.”
