Jose Luis Mendilibar hailed his Eibar players for showing themselves to be “united” as a team following Saturday’s 2-0 win at Las Palmas.
Los Armeros strengthened their grip on seventh place in La Liga thanks to goals from Saul Berjon and Borja Baston, and the Coach paid tribute to his players for a committed performance in Gran Canaria.
“We showed ourselves to be a team,” he said after the game.
“[Despite our two goals], we suffered as Las Palmas also had chances, so we let ourselves down in that aspect.
“We started the game strongly, pressing in the attacking half, and not letting our opponents play their desired game.
“However, Las Palmas responded and played in our half. We didn’t do everything right, despite the win.
“They saw lots of action in our box, but we could’ve scored a third on the counter as Las Palmas had to take risks going forward.
“Anything could’ve happened [in the final stages], but ultimately we did very well [in containing their forwards].”
